Nonfiction

You may send a maximum of two nonfiction essays per year. Please keep submissions below 3,500 words, in double-spaced format, with a standard 12-point font. We rarely accept longer pieces, and only at our discretion. Flash nonfiction is welcome, but it must be at least 750 words.

Do not include footnotes or endnotes. All content that’s relevant to your essay should be incorporated directly into the work itself. Please make sure all quotations are clearly attributed to an author and their specific work. If you quote from multiple secondary sources, place a Works Cited list at the end of your essay, using MLA format.

Include your name, your email address, and the title of the essay on the first page, and then number each subsequent page. Submit each work as a single Word document; no PDFs.
