Poetry

You may send a maximum of five poems per year. Include your name, email address, and the poem title on the first page of each poem. You may include multiple poems in one MS Word document submission; no PDFs, please. Be sure that Word files are email attachments, not links. Linked submissions will be rejected.

Individual poems should not exceed 125 lines, and please keep individual lines of poems under 72 characters. Our page dimensions are 5 inches wide by 7.5 inches high. Submit using standard fonts. We print each volume in 12-point font, using Minion Pro. All accepted poems are printed in black font on a white background.

Feel free to submit prose, concrete, or uniquely structured/spaced poems, as long as they fit our page dimensions. Please identify the poem's superstructure in your submission, where possible or necessary, to assist us in translating your poem into our publication format, especially if you have structured enjambment to maintain.

Please don’t send poems with photographs or art that align with the poems; however, do note the title, artist, and/or genre of inspirational media or quotes used for ekphrastic poems, if you wish, to go with the poem if published. Poems interspersed with various colored fonts will be rejected unless they meet the standards for our visual art category. If you want to submit visual poetry, photographs, or art, please see our art guidelines. Poetry that falls into the visual art category will be assessed by multiple editors and must meet all editors' standards to be accepted.

Please don’t send chapbooks of any length for publication consideration. Instead, select and send your best unpublished poems individually, per the above guidelines. You may submit chapbooks for consideration for review.
