Blueline Internships
Blueline’s editors are proud to serve SUNY Potsdam by directing a variety of internships every semester for qualified students. To be considered for a Blueline internship, students must have earned at least 30 credits and have a current GPA of 3.0 or higher. Exceptions may be made in specific cases, but all interested students must meet with the Editor-in-Chief/Site Supervisor to be interviewed for eligibility. Please contact Professor Sara Cantwell at cantwesl@potdsam.edu
Students will also be asked to submit a written statement of interest of 100 words or less. The statement should describe how their interest in a Blueline internship relates to their majors or minors and/or career goals. Students are encouraged to describe any specific skills they can bring to working for a literary magazine like Blueline.
After meeting with the Editor/Site Supervisor, eligible students will be directed to register for an internship through the Lougheed Center for Applied Learning (LoCAL). LoCAL’s website and procedures for registering are provided at the end of this page.
Please read the overview below for information about Blueline’s internship opportunities. The editors welcome any students, from a span of majors and minors, to apprentice with us. In recent semesters, we’ve trained interns from various disciplines, including English, Creative Writing, Environment and Sustainability, Graphic Design and New Media, Business Administration, Computer Science, and Finance.
Please also review the Categories of Internships we offer, also described below. Blueline’s editors are happy to work with students, advisors, and faculty sponsors. Again, our goal is to develop students’ applied-learning skills in dynamic and highly marketable ways.
